Unable to import disconnected pool

I have a removable SATA drive that I configured as a single disk zfs pool. I was able to import the pool export the pool and import again (all from the GUI). Then I exported it and removed the drive from the system. Then I reinserted it, I have tried to import it again but nothing shows up in Auto Import. I rebooted freenas and the disk still does not show up in auto import. I can see the disk in dmesg so I know it's connected, when I run zpool import nothing happens. zpool status only shows my other zfs pools all of which are working fine. The point of this pool was off site storage so I need to be able to export and remove it for a period of time then re-import it. Is there a proper procedure for doing this? How do I import the pool now.

I don't want to waste anyones time so I just rebuilt the drive as UFS, which since it was a single drive probably should have done in the first place. Mounting, unmounting, removing, mounting works just as I would expect.
