Hey!

I've been using FreeNASfor about a year now, running on an old pc and I wanted to upgrade. I read the hardware guide andwent shopping according to it.

Here is a list of what I've got:

CPU: Intel Pentium Gold G5400 2x 3.70GHz So.1151
MB: Supermicro X11SSM-F Intel C236 So.1151
RAM: 8GB (1x 8192MB) Transcend TS1GLH72V1H DDR4-2133 ECC DIMM CL15-15-15 Single
PSU: 550 Watt Corsair Netzteil RM550X ATX Modular (80+Gold)
HD: 2x 4000GB Seagate IronWolf ST4000VN008 5.900U/min 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s

With my old system still running I built the new one and wanted to test it. Sadly I was not able to boot it so far.
The green LED labeled CLEDBMC is blinking but not booting via manual connection of the PWR pins or with a switch does anything. No fans are spinning, nothing else happens.

I have read about outdated bios versions that do not support the newer CPUs but I do not know how I could verify that this is the case.
I'm very new to this and would appreciate all help to resolve this issue.

Feel free to double-check this and correct me, but I do believe you're putting a Coffee Lake CPU into a motherboard with a chipset that supports only Skylake processors.

Yeah, I just double checked and you are correct. I bought the wrong CPU.

Well that was hopefully a quick fix,

Thanks for the fast reply
