Hi,

As a new X10SL7-F owner, this forum is a wealth of information on the mobo. I am trying to find some sort of best practices for setting up the mobo.

I see a 22 page thread that has a bunch of information but the thread was closed in 2014.
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/supermicro-x10sl7-f.14105/

A few newbie questions in terms of bios setup:

Is there any list of bios settings which are suggested for an optimal bare metal freenas installation?

Does Freenas support USB ?
USB 3.0 is XHCI, simple USB 2.0 is EHCI

Does CPU scaling work (notes in the thread seemed it didnt)?
Should PowerD be enabled or disabled?

Which is the latest LSI 2308 bios that is compatible with Freenas (version 16?)

Instructions for setup:
http://www.napp-it.org/doc/manuals/flash_x9srh-7tf_it.pdf

Are there any other common non-default settings for a X10SL7-F newbie?

Thanks,
Rich

Leave everything as defaults except disable usb3. And you want v20 firmware for your controller if you are running the most recent freenas.

X2 I generally try to leave BIOS defaults and only change exactly what I need.

I do disable all other boot devices once the NAS is in Production so it boots immediately and only to the USB Sticks.

So to disable the USB 3.0 - XHCI mode is disabled

XHCI hand off is disabled
EHCI hand off is disabled
