Hi,

I've got a second hand server for my NAS.
Its holding a SuperMicro X8STI-F mb and SAS-815TQ backplane.
It also also holds 4 HDD 1TB WD SATA (Backplane support both SAS and SATA)
In slot 0+1 I have green light, which is great :)
In slot 2+3 I have same HDD but red blinking led over there. I've tried to swap hdd 1<->3 and still 3 was flashing red and 1 was good.
I've installed FreeNAS and it can see all 4 HDD as "healthy"

Maybe someone have more experience what can cause this ?
in the BIOS the HDD configured as AHCI (Can choose from IDE/RAID/AHCI).

Maybe the backplane is somehow messed-up. Incorrectly wired or wrong LEDs used or something...

So as long as the freenas see them as healthy, its probably nothing to worry about ?
