Hello everyone,
I would appreciate your feedback regarding the following specification:

Server platform: Supermicro 1028U-E1CR4+
CPU: Intel Xeon 8C E5-2620V4 2.1G 20M 8GT QPI X 2
RAM: 16GB DDR4-2666 2RX8 ECC RDIMM X 4
SSD: MZ7KM960HMJP005 Samsung SM863a,960GB,SATA X 10
HBA: AOC-S3008L-L8e HBA IT mode (for FreeNAS)
LAN: AOC-STGN-i2S2x 10GbE SFP+, PCI-E x8,Intel® 82599ES
SATA DOM: SSD-DM128-SMCMVN1 128GB SATA Disk on Module X 2

I can do mirror for the SATA DOM ? (raid 1 for the OS)
I want to do RAIDZ1 + SPHARE (for rebuild).

The machine is going to be used as storage in a Xen-based cloud environment.
what do you think ?
What you recommends ? ISCSI or NFS ?

Thank you!

FreeNAS handles this in software. Please do not use any hardware RAID with FreeNAS.

RAIDz2 is a better choice than RAIDz1 with a hot spare.

If you are doing either of those with and using this storage for hosting VMs, you will want to use mirror vdevs for increased IOPS.

You might want to review this documentation:

It is often beneficial, if you will be doing sync writes, to have a SLOG device.

Thank you! I went through the articles and learned a lot!
From what I understand, I do not need "CACHE" because all disks are SSD and it is recommended to use sync = always with SLOG. Is this true in your opinion?
Do I have to use NVME to get the best performance from SLOG when all the pool disks are SSD?
I rely need a SLOG? because the disks is SM863a they have a DRAM/CACHE with 1GB.
It is very important to me to perform the IOPS but it is also important for me to survive and if I choose mirror the survivability will be lower than in RAIDZ1 / 2, what is your recommendation?
