Hey,
I want to upgrade my FreeNAS server:
System - Supermicro SYS-1028U-E1CR4+
Controller - AOC-S3008L-L8e (IT)
Disks - Samsung SM863A ,1.9TB,SATA 6Gb/s,VNAND,V48,2.5" X 6

Because my system support up to 10 disks SAS SSD 12Gbps I want to upgrade my disks to SAMSUNG PM1643 SAS Enterprise SSD 1.92 TB internal 2.5 inch SAS 12Gb/s TLC.
What you think ? Do you have may better alternatives ? I'll be happy to your response.
Thanks!

What is your intention for the upgrade - that is, what's the bottleneck you're facing?

Also, please state your pool config - if you're after more IOPS or more storage, there may be changes you can make to the existing pool.

Hey,
Thanks for your reply.
SM863a are excellent but since I already have a 12Gb / s controller I will already upgrade for better performance :)
My pool config is total 8 disks (4 group mirror for best performance ISCSI).

Certainly seems like a good upgrade - a nice clear four times the throughput :)

Depending on how your server is shaped (how many available 4x or better PCIe slots you have), it may be interesting to look at PCIe cards with NVMe sockets, which is the only way I can see of getting faster than your chosen upgrade SSDs.

I hesitate to say "best" - there's always something amazing out there for a price! But it looks very good.
