Buongiorno a tutti,
I'm planning some upgrades, my system is used for:
  • Nextcloud
  • Plex
  • Transmission + VPN
I'm here to ask if moving this jails to a pool of 2 SSD (Samsung 860 EVO - 250GB in RAID-1) allow me to gain some advantages about performance?
The Nextcloud jail will be transfered completely, the PLEX library will stay on the main pool of RAID-Z2 and also the download destination of Transmission.

I think that the change will not improve to much the performance or I'm wrong?
Instead, is not possible to have more than one jail root right?

your jails will start slightly faster. maybe.
once running they will be in ARC (RAM), which is FASTER than ssd by orders of magnitude, flushing changes to disk every few seconds - those changes mostly being configuration of the jail since it looks like you will be storing the data on platters.
storing your actual data on ssd would loads be faster, short of that...eh.
vm's could benefit from ssd, but not jails because the jails get the full benefit of zfs caching, snapshots, COW, etc.
you would probably see more benefit by adding those ssd's are L2ARC or something as your reads could be improved, although its possible that with "only" 32GB even adding cache would reduce performance.
put the ssd's in a gaming machine instead.
