SMART Error with WD Red HDD

I bought a fourth WD WDC WD30EFRX HDD, arrived in its unopened package.
I wanted to do a SMART test from the GUI and at below there is the result.
Now I have started another long test.

What do you think about it? Should I ask for a replacement?
I want to create a RAID-Z2. If I have to replace it I'll start with RAID-Z1 because I can't wait.
Can I then change it to RAID-Z2 or will I have to move all the data and recreate the pool?
I need the NAS with shared folders to use for backup of PCs.

The three disks already present are WDC WD30EFRX-68AX9N0.
This is a WDC WD30EFRX-68EUZN0.
Could there be any problems?

Seems to be indicative of a disk media problem.

Make sure you are buying from a reputable source and not someone selling "refurbished" drives.

You can check the warranty status here

With a new disk throwing smart errors I would return it. If you create a Raidz1 pool and want it to later be a raidz2 pool you will have to destroy the pool and re create it.

Thanks, now I'm doing a "long" test and let's see what happens.

What do you tell me about the different type?
The three are WDC WD30EFRX-68AX9N0.
This is a WDC WD30EFRX-68EUZN0.
Can they fit in one pool?

As long as neither are SMR then they will co-exist

I did some research: both models are CMR; couldn't find anything conclusive about the serials after the dash, my supposition is that it's something factory-related (different batches/factories) therefore you shouldn't worry about that.

Edit: found the answer.
The model number suffix (characters to the right of the dash following the model number) is only for in-house use.

The disk is damaged.
The LONG test reaches 10% and then stops with a reading error.
The same LONG test on the other 3 HDD lasts hours.

I can't find another HDD of the same type, at least quickly.
So I have two alternatives:
  1. I insert a different HDD, for example Seagate (Which?).
  2. I insert a different disk type, for example WDC Blue, and then I create a RAID-Z1 pool with the 3 Red HDDs and use this for an additional backup or snapshot.
What do you think?

Doesn't have to be the exact same model. Just same or larger formatted size, and not SMR drives. Same manufacturer and RPM is desired, but not required.

I have recalled the SMART data.
Test error results are reported, but the data is the same as for the 3 disks which are error-free.
Here I report the data of the disk with errors (ada3) and of the other 3 disks.
The three firmware are different, how do I update the older ones?

None of your drive serial numbers come up on WD warranty check page.

I bought the first three disks from a distributor, they are at least 10 years old.
But they were used very little.
The latest was bought via Amazon in the past few weeks.

Regardless of the warranty, how does the data look to you?

Serial Number WCC4N1LF9DSY needs to be replaced.

The others appear OK, but keep in mind that some resellers have the ability to reset the life usage data with OEM and/or third party tools.

Make sure you are scheduling periodic SMART tests and set up email notifications to catch drive (and other) problems as soon as they are detected.

I connected the disk in Win10 and used CrystalDiskInfo.
The test says it's good
What to believe? In FreeBSD it was giving errors when reading.
I cannot return a disc that will later turn out to be healthy.

That tool is not checking or reporting the results of the short tor long self test.

The short and long SMART self tests are built into the drive itself and reflect media health. It has absolutely nothing to do with the operating system.
