Hi, I would prefer Micro-ATX over mini-ITX however the Node 804 will not fit into the wonderful Ikea shelf (33 x 33 cm squares)... Yes... Really.

Node 804 dimensions (WxHxD): 344 x 307 x 389 mm

Is there a mATX case (suitable for 5-6 HDDs) that is <= 33 cm both width and height? Depth is no constraint...

Thanks!

A Bitfenix Phenom M is Micro-ATX, and the measurements are 25x33x37, with the 37 being the front-to-back, which should be ok.

Make sure you look at the Phenom M. Without the "M", it's the mini-itx version, I think.

Thank you @DrKK!
Phenom Micro-ATX dimensions (WxHxD): 250 x 330 x 374mm.
It appears with some luck i will have a few millimeters clearance left at the top. I wonder if the height measurement includes the legs?

Shame this otherwise nice case fits only 5 drives. "x 5 (4 + 1 using included adapter)"

Edit: this is the Mini-ITX version and appears to have plenty of space for HDDs

Lian Li PC-M25 dimensions would work well: (W) 199mm, (H) 322mm, (D) 441mm.

"The M25 also supports up to 5 x 3.5" HDD's in a hot swap cage, with an additional HDD tray on the bottom of the case that can support either 2 x 3.5" HDD or 3 x 2.5" HDD." - Nice!

Thermaltake Urban SD1 Micro Case is also a possibility:
Dimension (W x H x D): 280 x 239 x 456 mm

Trying to figure out the absolute max HDDs it could take:
Code:
Drive Bays
-Accessible : 2 x 5.25",1 x 3.5"
-Hidden : 2 x 3.5", 2 x 2.5"

Urban SD1 vs. Node 304 (which is Mini-ITX)

Thermaltake Core V21 could just barely fit into the available space (up to a couple mm!), Dimensions (W x H x D) 320 x 336 x 424 mm.

Code:
Drive Bays -Hidden : 3 x 3.5’’ or 2.5” , 3 x 2.5’’

Is that it really? only 3 HDDs? not really a NAS-friendly case it seems!
