I recommend as well to increase the sleep timer. I would recommend a value of 120 minutes or longer. The spin up places serious strain on the drive and is what will likely be the failure of your drives if you spin them up frequently. Your drive may be a bit different as it's rated as 300,000 Load/Unload operations vice Start/Stop operations. So you need to weigh the cost of running the drives for a few extra hours a day (price of just under 5 watts of power per drive for the extra amount of time is negligible) verses the probable premature death of a drive. Even if the drive is under warranty it still sucks to have it fail.

Make sure you shutdown and boot the system so the new values are applied to the drives. This will be changed, hopefully in FreeNAS 9.x where the values are applied immediately.
