Hello everyone,
[Mandatory: I am a noob]
[I a not so sure if this is the right place for such a post, if it isn't, please do the necessary and let me know]

I had some data that I wanted to keep online for now, and decided to use MEGA.nz and the built-in cloud sync (FreeNAS 11.3-U5)
I am only getting around 1~2 MBps (8~16Mbps)
I contacted the support, I got a reply stating that I am creating a crapload of close sessions, which I shouldn't, instead, I can use MEGAcmd.
now this is the main issue, I have huge experience with CLI tools, and by that I mean I can [ls, cd, cp, mv] and that's about it (excuse the lame joke, I'm a CLI noob)

1. will find a way, I was thinking of running some flavor of Linux in a VM (or even bare-metal), learn MEGAcmd, and do it.
me being a noob I was worried that I will inevitably do something stupid, and the data will be deleted from the NAS (i want to destroy the volume and rebuild it), so i cannot really afford to do something stupid. does anyone have a better idea?
(currently trying MEGAsync on my windows PC over a shared drive, hope this is a better option, so far it keeps crashing, and when it works, I'm getting lower speeds, but ill keep you posted)

2. and most importantly, they (MEGA) recommended I submit a bug report to add session cashing to rclone/cloud sync, as far as my research got me, rclone has a way of cashing sessions, not sure how is it implemented, or if it's after a certain version, but since I've never submitted a bug report, is this something worth it?
since I'm not sure about the updates coming to TrueNAS core, I don't want to submit something that is already being fixed or already submitted at least
NOTE: I am talking based on the info I have that cloud sync is based on rclone, so please do correct me if I'm wrong

3. anyone has experience or knowledge of what speeds can i expect from MEGA?
anyone has a noob friendly source for MEGAcmd? the ones i found are the opposite of noob friendly :)

Hi,

Our database shows that your account has created many sessions with rclone which is an unauthorised third party tool. This tool is not developed or authorised by MEGA and therefore not recommended.

MEGA does limit your session creations if your account is starting too many.
Users using rclone to access their MEGA account runs into such problem sooner or later as rclone is based on a cobbled-together third-party MEGA API client library that just barely works (lack of thumbnails, undecrypted shared folders and so on).

The relevant bug with that client library (or the way rclone uses it) is the absence of session caching, which means that every invocation of rclone creates a fresh session, with all the overhead of validating your password etc.
This slows down its operation unnecessarily and accumulates sessions up to a point where it reaches our - extremely generous - limit of concurrently active sessions.
At that point, as you have experienced, our API rejects further login attempts.

So, if you really want to continue using rclone, you need to submit a bug report to the authors of rclone and/or the client library to add session caching. Once that is fixed, it will work.

However, we do not recommend any third-party tools because they are insecure and do not fully implement our cryptographic protocols; also they cannot detect your quota and could limit your bandwidth.

We recommend the migration to our command tool MEGAcmd which provides access to MEGA services without user interface and offers all the functionality of your MEGA account via commands.

Please find more information about it in our help centre: https://mega.nz/help/s/5c2d62baf1b709c10b8b457b and also here: https://github.com/meganz/MEGAcmd

You can install it from this link: https://mega.nz/cmd

PLEASE NOTE:
MEGAcmd is not a tool intended to be used by all users, we only recommend this tool to advanced users like yourself.

If you have any queries or issues please contact our developers on Github directly. Go to https://github.com/meganz/MEGAcmd/issues and create a `New Issue` - our developers will communicate with you directly.

Kind Regards,
MEGA Support

Hello, I am using your service to backup some files I have on my NAS drive and getting an up speed of only 2.2MBps, I have the PRO2 package the system is based on FreeNASthe backup is done using the FreeNAS built-in cloud sync (Which I assume is based on rsync)I have 250/100Mbps speed (https://www.speedtest.net/result/10250603367 <https://www.speedtest.net/result/10250603367>)the system can deliver 100MBps (1Gpbs) local transfer testedGoogle Drive tested: 11.9 MBpsMicrosoft OneDrive tested: 10.5 MBpsthe above tests are done all within the same timeframe using the same parameters (except for sync target) (speeds are averages not exact)Please advise on what I can do to increase the speedBest regards,Omar alZuabi

Should be mentioned that Mega will soon launch a standardized storage service called S4, which uses a the same amazon S3 style api calls. While it's not as cheap as regular mega plans, it shouldn't have these kinds of problems.
