SAS 6/iR or PERC6 for ZFS RAID-Z

Hi,

I tried to find the answer on the forum, whether to use a SAS 6/iR card or a PERC6 for a ZFS RAID-Z SATA POOL with 6 disks. I have a dell server with 6x 1tb SATA disk and a SSD for ZIL and I have both controllers and clueless which one to use.

I would say use the SAS 6 and flash it with the IT firmware. Am I wrong? Thank you.

Hi laapsaap,

Yes, you want to use the SAS6/iR. You should be able to flash it to IT mode.....I did this with a SAS5/iR a couple of years ago.
