OK, so I have 2 servers thus far. One is going to turn into the backup. This is the old one we'll call server 1 which is also currently in use until I can migrate to the new server.
The second is the new server. 36 bay, 12 drives (2vdevs in raidz2) that I tried to RSync from Server 1 to 2 but RSync was copying through the links to server 2 causing, for instance the Jail to become extremely large. So I turned RSync off as for now I'm trying to backup a buddies server as he was running WHS and it failed and server 2 is the only one that has enough free space to store his files.
The strange thing is that after disabling RSync it would continue syncing.
The Jail would start to grow and files that I have copied from by buddy's WHS start disapear.
So I deleted the task and rebooted the server and it seems to be still syncing and deleting files that I'm copying to it for backup.
You see the files I'm backing up from my buddy's server seem to also be disapearing which would make sense if I was syncing as those same files are not on server 1
