OK, so I'm trying to sync data between two servers as I'm migrating from some older hardware to newer hardware with a larger capacity.

While syncing the Jails folder will also syncing everything it's linked to so I tried to put a option in to completely ignore the Jails as I don't really need and/or want to sync the Jails

Code:
--safe-links --exclude=/mnt/storage/Jails/

But it is still syncing the Jail.

did I not give it the right options?

If both systems are ZFS, why not use replication?

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your rsync question. I try to avoid rsync whenever I can.

Then what would be the best way to sync files from the old server to the new one while keeping all the permissions?

Yea, guess I overlooked that point he made. To many things going on all at one time.
I will look up the instructions on ZFS replication and see what I can make happen.

My last question is if I use ZFS replication is there a way to run a script so that once replication finishes, the server then shuts down?
I ask because once I migrate to the new sever I want to set a schedule for the server to turn on, make it's backup then shut off once a week.
Also, in ZFS replication is it possible to ignore certain directories?
