Hello!

My situation is as follows: I started my zpool (striped) with 2 PATA drives (80 + 50 GB) and than I added to the pool 3 tb disks.
Now I would like to remove the old PATA drives.

As I have plenty of space I thought I could remove the drives moving the data on the free space, but as I read in Solaris guide (http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+zfs/faq), at the moment the removal of top-level vdev is not supported.

If I add another 1 tb SATA drive and I split it into 2 different partitions (that as far as I understand are vdevs), can I substitute (with zpool replace) each PATA drive with the two new partitions? Or zpool replace works only on vdev of the same level?

Thank you

F.
