Dear Freenasers,
First thank you for being such as helpful and passionate community.

I used this excellent tutorial for remote access using OpenVPN https://www.ixsystems.com/community...envpn-inside-a-jail-in-freenas-11-1-u1.61681/

I have managed to connect remotely and I am given an address such as 10.8.0.6

Can someone advise how I can access the CIFS shares that I have using windows.
If I am on the LAN the address would be \\192.168.0.8\sharename
I have read some threads that said that would be enough - but it doesnt work
Many thanks

I think the problem is that is trying to authenticate with user logged in Windows.
Once you're inside via VPN, you should access it by \\192.168.0.8\sharename

Once the VPN is established.
I have tried adding network place in explorer with exactly that type of IP address but it just doesn’t connect.

Aaaa, there is on more important thing... LAN from your FreeNAS network and LAN from where you want to connect, should be different otherwise they conflict.

I tried this including through the command prompt:
I keep getting:
System error 53 has occurred.
The network path was not found.

If you think you could help with TeamViewer, then let me know when convenient in a PM.
