Hi, I want to build my first FreeNAS home server for personal backup, photo, music and video (films and TV shows) storage. I read the hardware guide, and I see that all the recommended motherboards are compatible with unbuffered DIMMs: I've 4x8gb Hynix ECC registered DIMMs that I would to use in my FreeNAS build, can you help me with the motherboard choosing? Are motherboard for registered DIMMs usually more expensive than mb for unbuffered RAM?

Typically, yes. Registered RAM is typically needed for larger RAM capacities, which are going to be limited to higher-end CPUs and motherboards. In current and recent-generation Intel stuff, that would be the Socket 2011 series. Higher-end CPU -> higher-end motherboard -> higher price.
