No panic, my FreeNAS installation is running smoothly. However I want to be prepared for anything and have proper backups.
My FreeNAS 9.2.1.7 is configured as a primary domain controller. Several computers have joined the domain and with the help of the Windows RSAT several domain users were added .
This leaves me with an important question: how do I backup all this Samba configuration?
My first thought was to use the 'Save config' from the FreeNAS interface but I believe this only backs up anything you enter through the GUI, not other data .
Is it enough to backup "mnt\<...>\.system\samba4" using the samba_backup script from the samba source. Does this hold all the information of the domain controller?
Actually: is there a general rule: should you always backup the system dataset in some way?
