I purchased a HP Microserver to build a NAS Server, It only has 4GB of ram but I am going to buy more, however as i want to run this server with 4 3TB drives, 2 file systems with raid 1 backup.
How much ram is suitable for this ? will 8GB be ok as its a raid 1 setup.

8GB is the bare minimum. 16GB is preferred, if possible. If not, 8GB shouldn't be dangerous, but performance may suffer.

I'd buy an 8Gb stick of ECC RAM, giving you a total of 12Gb. If you ever want to upgrade to 16Gb (maximum supported), you'll only have to replace the original 4Gb stick.
