Hello,
I tried using raid 10 (4x2 TB) on a 3 ware raid controller for a few weeks and didn't care too much for the speed or noise. These parts were from my previous system. Anyways I am more conscious about noise and power consumption these days, I am tossing them into the bin.
I plan to use 2 drives (750 gb each, WD 5400 rpm laptop drives) as a storage for FreeNas. Should I stick to the raid 1 hardware or just use software raid from FreeNAS? I will need to continue to use the hardware controller regardless if I go with hardware raid 1 or not since I am using pass through. I have merged ESXi and FreeNas on same box :).
Thanks for your advice,
TT
