SOLVED problem with accessing jails over openvpn

I have a openwrt router and have been using tcp over ssh to access my local lan from work, when traveling etc.

Now I want to use openvpn to access my systems instead of ssh so i configured a openssh server on my router and disabled ssh access from the wan port

openvpn seems to work great except now i cant access any of my jails (plugins) on the freenas box
I am able to access all the other machines in the LAN including the freenas box.
just not the jails
not even a simple ping

works great with tcp over ssh

any ideas? im stuck

I'm going to guess and say that what is probably going on is your jails are using static IPs and since your router isn't configured for the static IPs (your jails don't do dhcp) your router is discarding them because it doesn't expect (or know) that a machine is at that IP.

Well.
I tried to set ipv4 gateway in all the jails.
It then started working.

so for anyone switching to openwrt this may be your problem
