Hi,

I'm about to build a freeNAS-"Box" with a AMD Athlong 64 X2 EE SFF and was just asking myself, if the powernow feature which reduces CPU frequency during low-load is actually implemented into the freeBSD were freeNAS is based on.

Anyone out there who knows? And - anyone here who can tell how to activate it?

Yes, there is an option in Settings, "Enable powerd (Power Saving Daemon)", which allows the CPU frequency to scale up and down according to work load. Works fine with an AMD Athlon Neo (variant of Turion/Athlon64) as found in the HP N36L.

The current CPU frequency can be checked with "sysctl dev.cpu.0.freq".
