A friend help me set up a FreeNas system in my house, with the goal of running PlexMedia plug in. The server is running and when I have a device, (laptop, cellphone, RoKu) connected to my wireless network, the system runs smoothly. I can not access my media remotely. We set the server with a static IP. I followed the Port-Forwrding directions for the arris dg1670, but still nothing. Now the stranger thing is, if I plug a laptop into the router and open Finder, I can see my server, open folders, etc... but if I open the Plex app on that laptop I get a error message that Plex can not find my server. As soon as I unplug from the router and turn on wifi everything works again.
I am new to this and I am not sure if I should be making changes to the network within the freenas interface, the router, both? And/or what does changes should be?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
