One hour ago I had a directory in freenas with the following:
owner: 1000
group: wheel
permissions: rwx|rwx|r-x

That directory was mounted on my linux desktop through nfs. On that directory on my desktop, it had the following
owner: myusername
group: apache
permissions: rwx|rwx|r-x

This is what I want. I then fiddled with it because I wanted every file that I create within that directory on my desktop to have write permissions for the group (apache). I know how to change permissions, but I didn't want to have to do that, I wanted files within that directory to automatically allow the apache group write access. I was unable to get this done so I wanted to call it a night and tried to put things back to normal.

Now whenever I change my group on freenas, it changes my group on my desktop. This was not happening before. When my group in freenas is wheel, it changes my group on my desktop to be root. When I then change the group on my desktop to be apache, it changes my group in freenas to be 81.

What the heck did I do and how do I fix it?
