Hope someone can help, here's the situation:

Went on week long trip, had shut down my FreeNAS server, clean shutdown, no issues.
Come home and boot up, get some error about can't find partition, this was after the first FreeNAS boot screen.
Tried Safe mode, kernel halt. Cursed, tried all again. No luck.
Figured drive was bad.

Was running 9.1 (maybe 9.2)
Had backup of config, couldn't find (figures)
Fresh install of 9.3 on different OS drive I had laying around.
Wizard started, told me "Hey buddy, I've got this ZFS store RIGHT here for ya to import!"
Said "Awesome, go for it!"
Got all the right names, ZFS type, etc, far as I could tell.
Duplicated my CIFS setup as I'd had before, wizard was reassuring me greatly!
Wizard completes.

...No volume listed, import volume show NADA

Here's what I do have:

A reboot of the FreeNAS server gets me to the point where I can do the wizard again. Not sure if want to before asking for help...

Thoughts on the viability of my data? I do have a backup, though it's probably a month or so behind, so not looking forward to that quagmire if I can possibly resolve this one.

I did try the original OS drive in another computer, got the same thing, then the drive clicked and died completely, that was fun to hear...

So, funny thing, I'm REALLY impatient. Did the import volume wizard again after a second reboot, said all is well. The volume did populate. Recreated the CIFS share, and I see my data. In the root of it I have my old config file...DOH!!!!

I'm going through the data now to make sure it's intact. If everything checks out I'll go ahead and mark this fixed. Any suggestions on things to check to verify integrity would be welcome though.

Your pool is either very very old or you used the cli to create it. Since your pool uses device labels and not gptids it could possibly cause problems. Also raid z1 is not suggested in today's world.

I suggest rebuilding your pool in raid z2 and using the freenas GUI to do it.

I'll do a backup ASAP and rebuild it. This is indeed old, can't recall when I actually created it, gone through three sets of disks though over the years. Thanks for the advice, and the data does appear to be intact!
