We are a medium business trying to implement free NAS, presently in the testing phase. I have a working install, except for one thing. When I try to set owner user or groups to a CIFS Share, only so many (100 some) of our users from Active Directory are listed. There are perhaps a dozen groups. Is there a limit in the free version? Note wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g return what appear to be a complete listing of users/or groups. It is only the CIFS GUI that looks to limit them.

Thank You!

There is no limit in the free version. If there are a lot of users, the UI will only load so many for performance reasons. Start typing in the username you want to jump to users that match that string.

Great to know there is no limit. I tried typing in a user name manually and it comes back saying "This user is not valid". Could something be timing out on the connection to AD?

Definitely. Try bumping up the "AD Timeout" in Directory Service -> Active Directory --> Advanced to 60 and see if that helps.
