Not able to send Test Email

Hi Guys,

I just upgraded to ver 8.2.0 release p1 and I am not able to send Test Email.
I am getting the message "Your test email could not be sent: [Errno 8] hostname nor servname provided, or not known".

Following are the settings:

- Root user does have an email address.
- From email: myemail@gmail.com
- Outgoing email server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port to connect to: 465
- TLS/SSL: SSL
- Use SMTP authentication: Checked
- Username: myemail@gmail.com
- Password and Password Confirmation: My gmail Password

I also tried Port 587 with TLS but still not working.

**Everything was working fine with Freenas 8.0.4

Any tips, thoughts, fix??

Sending an email via gmail (either relaying to another mail server or directly to my gmail account) certainly works for me using port 587 and using TLS - are there any errors in your log files?

I am totally new to this. I don't see any link in GUI to view log files and I am not conversant with shell commands :-/

Do you have a Nameserver configured in network config screen?

No Nameserver configured on Global Configuration Tab.
All three Nameserver fields are blank.

Do you use DHCP?

Try setting a nameserver there...

Yes, I use DHCP.

Sorry, I don't know what name server I should be setting there. If you can tell me, I can do that right away. I am on my PC.

Probably the IP of your router...

I just tried my router ip (192.168.1.1) as Nameserver 1.
Test email still not sent but error message changed to "Your test email could not be sent: [Errno 65] No route to host"

Hi guys... I don't know what exactly changed... but Test Emails are going thru' now... Weird!!

Hello

Does anyone know more about the error 65 regarding the mails.
I having issues with said error.
Apparently no host connection.

Edit:
I tried with Yahoo instead of gmail and the error changed to 51.

if you have 2-step Verification on or not you have to allow less secure apps in your gmail settings.
i spent almost 2 hours looking on the forum before i saw that post.
