No volumes in GUI, system completely functional

I was informed by my power provider of a planned shutdown, so I dutifully took down my FreeNAS system before the outage.

Strangely, after the outage, the system if functional, but the GUI doesn't show any volumes, so it can't show the content of the system.

The reporting tab shows the disk activity and the partition data correctly.

The system works fine, has only CIFS access, and each volume only has one partition.

I'm running 9.10 with a LSI controller in IT mode. Without being able to see the volumes and therefore the drives in the volume, I think that I can't replace a drive if it failed........the command line is not my friend unless I get a precise command to execute.

I can supply whatever data you need, as long as I get command line stuff with details.

YES, I did take the system down and bring it back up already.

Maybe you need a forced refresh of the GUI in the browser... usually SHIFT-Reload.

da1 is in trouble, either due to bad cabling or an internal disk problem.

What do you get from smartctl -a /dev/da1 ?

I see some issues with da1, but how does that figure in to the GUI issue?
It shouldn't... not sure why that is happening, but maybe camcontrol errors are preventing normal FreeNAS operation somehow.

These 870 errors are where it's at...

CRC errors could indicate some kind of connectivity, but SMART data is gathered onboard the disk itself, so should exclude any cabling issues.

You can have a look at your cabling to that disk, but I think it's not going to survive the fight.

EDIT: a quick bit of googling showed that this may be errors detected by the disk, but in its communication with the controller, so could be a cable problem... definitely check your cables.

I know da1 isn't perfect, but since I can't manage the volumes with the GUI, can you give me a set of commands that I can use instead of the GUI to essentially do what the GUI does?

Specifically, zpool commands to take drives offline and to resilver the replacement?

Any other useful commands to monitor and manage the system would be great........I've wanted to learn the command line to do these type functions anyway.

We really shouldn't go off piste here unti we've stopped the CRC errors... perhaps these are the root cause and solving them will bring everything back.

You can find a lot of information on the zpool commands like offline, online, replace and many more, but FreeNAS is at its best when you don't use those. The middleware does a lot of additional checking in the background to keep things simple and clean that can be missed when running commands manually.

OK, I'll order a replacement for da1.......................I doubt that it'll help with the GUI issue, but I'll do it anyway.
