The default uid/gid choices for the volume are too limited. And even with restricting all users to group "users" and testing out different file-system permissions (see post http://forums.freenas.org/showthread.php?1131-permissions-using-NFS-mounts ) things do not work correctly.
Aside from the permissions issues that exist even in 8.01-B4, I think many could benefit from the implementation/support of YP for freenas. Until then I’m trying to figure out what better way to implement a zfs sw raid for an environment with many different users & groups.
Freenas looks really clean, never used version 7, but doesnt seem to be geared for many different users and groups which is real sad.
