Yes! Newegg is stackin' em deep, and sellin' em cheap!
I bought two of these today, with the email promo code
discount of $11 each, they were a steal @ < 0.03 per GB

I'm aware these are not NAS drives, but some times we need
drives for desktops too :p

I have some of the Toshiba drives also, but I like the diagnostic data from the Seagates better. It has more detail. Until recently I had 12 of the Seagate 2TB drives in each of my two servers. I recently replaced 7 of the ones in the older server with the Toshiba drives and they work fine but I don't care for the way the SMART data looks.

Seagate has been making the Barracuda since around 1991. I remember ordering the 1.5 inch thick SCSI 9GB models for our servers back around 1999 and later upgrading to the 1 inch thin 18GB models.

Not the ones I shucked. They were regular Seagate Desktop drives.
I'm too lazy to get the drives out of the cases they come in, besides
that I worry about the drives having weird firmware and being less
than Grade-A quality.

The ones I have shucked are the same firmware as the retail (OEM) drives I have purchased and have been working flawlessly. I will probably do it again when I need more drives.
