Newbie on FreeNAS

Hello all,

Just joined the community as a dutch FreeNAS user. Have been using a NAS (QNAP TS-859pro+) for several years now, but it is time to move to FreeNAS.

My system is a HP Z210 sff with a E3-1225 Quad Xeon 3.1GHz fitted with 32GB memory and running ESXi. FreeNAS 11 is one of the VM's on this machine.

My plan is to migrate all information from my QNAP towards FreeNAS. Currently I'm unsuccesful in creating a Rsync between the QNAP and Freenas

Future goals:

• Using Rsync (over a IPSEC tunnel provided by a pfsense Firewall) towards a offsite NAS for important data
• Using Stack (transip.nl) as slow online backup/storage

Any suggestions/hints regarding my future goals are welcome

Welcome to the forums, just curious, how much storage you can fit in that HP SSF box?

Are you passing through the disk controller to FreeNAS, or doing something else to expose storage to FreeNAS?
