new to FreeNAS

Hi guys,

I didn't know about FreeNAS that was until a friend of mine had his server failed (guy who set it up nowhere to be find)

So am here to learn as much possible so i can assist my friend on retrieving his files (hopefully);)

am lil bit of tech savvy

Welcome to the forums. FreeNAS is not terrible to learn however there are a lot of pitfalls and mistakes people make. Read the User Guide from cover to cover twice. There is a lot of good information in there. If your buddy is having problems, open up a new thread and follow the forum rules, post all the specs about the system and then in great detail, the problem. Assume we have no clue what is going on and explain the problem so an idiot can follow it. We do not take offence to this, I actually like it. Assumptions kill and it's best to not assume anything.
