Hi all,
Just "arrived" here and have plenty to learn I guess, since I normaly use Windows (at work) and Linux (at home). So please... have patience :)
This week I've been upgrading a three year old hardware with memory and disks, that is waiting to be filled with new bits'n bytes.

Welcome. Not trying to put you down but the system you are upgrading for FreeNAS use, does it have ECC RAM? If not then you should be aware it "could" be an issue. I'm sure you have read all about it by now but if not, please do read the threads about it. If you do not have ECC RAM and accept the risk, that is fine.
