Hi everyone - new member from Germany

Hello everyone, I'm Andy from Germany. I'm planning to build my new NAS based on FreeNAS-System. So I've found this forum to get the right information.

I've some experience with Linux, that’s similar to BSD.

IT is a hobby of me, I'm not a profession in this topic. But I think, this forum will help a lot.

I use at this time an old QNAP NAS. But there are no updates any more. I search a NAS system whose functionality is guaranteed in the future. I think freeNAS is the right system.

I'm a newbie here too but welcome to the community.
I also had a Qnap NAS (TS-453 Pro) which failed, I believe it was the motherboard fault. I decided to go down this route for the freedom of being able to replace components etc. as I didn't like Qnap's response of just buy a new Qnap.
