I'm pricing out a new high capacity (48-64TB), high performance (10gb Network) storage server and want some drive recommendations. I'm considering the following two configs and price will probably be what determines which I go with:
6 x 6TB RAIDz2 vdev (x2) - 48TB usable
6 x 8TB RAIDz2 vdev (x2) - 64TB usable
*SSDs will be used for cache/log
The overwhelming opinion from what I'm readying is WD Reds are the way to go though I've heard there are some vibration/noise issues with the 8TB versions. Can anyone comment on this?
Outside of the WD Red line of drives, what other line is comparable that would work well in this setup?
