First of all, I would like to apologize for any errors in the text, because I'm using Google translator.
I am studying the viability to mount NAS servers to host VMWare virtual machines using ESXi 5.1 or 5:11.
The structure would probably be the following:
HOST 1 with VMWare ESXi 5.1 or 5.11 with 32 Gigabits of memory and 4 discs 1 T, with 1 quad-core processor with virtualization support (hardware DELL Power Edge T410).
1 HOST Intel FreeNAS 9.1.1 with 6 disc 1T with 1 Intel Xeon processor with virtualization support, 4 GB of memory.
The idea is to map the volumes zfs host FreeNAS on host VMWare via iscsi and create the VM's in these volumes (production environment).
I also thought of creating a VM ESXi on local disk, occupying almost the entire local disk, where it would fit another FreeNAS. This second NAS receive automatic replication of the volumes of the first NAS, thus creating a backup at scheduled.
This structure is suitable for server environment in companies? Is it safe?
I've done some tests and at first everything worked fine, but reading some forum posts I was afraid to use ESXi with FreeNAS (I may have misunderstood).
Remembering that I am beginner in the subject.
I thank all the possible collaborations.
