Multipathing Issues

After a reboot of my system the GUI shows that 3 drives are unassigned on Storage > Disks. However, these drives are one of the paths of separate multi-path disks. If I go to Storage > Multi-path the drives show that they are part of 3 paths of the correct multi-path disk.

System is running as a ESXi Guest with:

  • 250GB RAM
  • 6x vCPU
  • 2x HP 240 series HBA flashed to LSI P20
  • 5x HP 2700 SFF Chassis each with 25 Disks
  • 3 x chassis daisy chained with 1 path into each HBA
  • 2 x chassis daisy chained with 1 path into each HBA
  • HBAs are PCI Passthrough to the VM
  • 4 Chassis have 25 600GB SAS 10K drives
  • 1 Chassis has 20 600GB SAS 10K drives and 2x intel 3700 200GB SATA SLOG and 3x Intel 3700 200GB SATA L2ARC
  • System has been shut down and all paths have been confirmed as going to the correct ports

Nothing has changed on the system, and it has been stable. Scrubs show no issues. Performance is as expected

So 2 part question:
  1. Has anyone come across this before; and
  2. Is their a way to make sure that multi-pathing is working correctly and if it is to remove the drives showing as available in the GUI?
