Mini-ITX Build - FreeNAS compatible?

I guess I'll leave the eSATA/SAS/etc. aside until I get a bigger motherboard with more PCIe Slots! Oh well, it seemed like a good idea but if SATA multipliers with the FreeNAS are out of the question, then I'll continue my current regimen of backing up to external enclosures and scrubbing their contents at the same time. Takes a while but a side benefit is that the backup is readable to my computers.
