Hi Guys, Im a newbi in freenas, and I need help, My freenas local IP address is 192.168.0.4, so I went to my router and I routed http port 80 to 192.168.0.4 and I got my external IP address (from a website) .
Then from an external network I went on a windows PC and I type in URL "the router externalIPaddress" and I was able to see the freenas page, now Using map network drive, when I type //"the external IP address of the router" and I click browse, nothing happen why can't I browse my drives like this?

Since you only port you forwarded on your router was port 80 (http), the web interface is the only service you can see, outside your network.

Depending on how you're trying to access your data, you'd need additional ports open. At a minimum, you're probably looking at TCP ports 139 and 445. And, 21 if you're using FTP.

All that being said, I wouldn't open this up to all, from the Internet. I'd implement a VPN solution instead. Bill
