Hi All,
I'm a neophyte with regard to freeNAS, and need some guidance on what the best process is to implement this system. I currently have, strung out throughout my network, 4 separate NAS boxes (off the shelf), and need to know the best way to transition them under the freeNAS umbrella, so to speak. Here are the brands and storage sizes:
STORA - 2 1TB drives in RAID-1
1 Non-NAS WD 2TB MyBook
1 WD 3TB MyBookLive
2 WD 1TB MyBook Worlds
1 WD 3TB MyCloud
1 Non-NAS 3TB

Currently, I'm at about 80%-90% utilized, which makes backing them all up and transitioning them (assuming they have to be blank) a monumental task. Is there a way for freeNAS to keep the data (minus the NAS OS), and convert them to ZFS and integrate them into freeNAS?

Thanks in Advance for any insight on how to best migrate to a real NAS system,
Teligard

There's no way for FreeNAS to use this data directly as it's not formatted ZFS. You'll have to migrate it over manually.
