Help planning a Migration to new drive setup

Howdy all,

I am an at home user of FreeNas and have been running a install for a few years. my current setup is a i5 running on a MITX board with 6 onboard SATA ports, 3 x 1TB drives and 3 x 500MB drives, these are setup into 2 separate volumes.

Now i have just purchased 6 x 3TB WD reds and want to setup a RAID6 setup of these drives and migrate over.

Everything on the 1TB drives is media which i can copy off and then copy back on. But the 500MB drives are where i house the jails and i am not sure how to best to migrate these over.

I have not found a solution yet.

I was looking at raid 6 to have 2 spare dives incase of drive failure.

What would you suggest for my migration and also alternatives to RAID6?
