Hello,
this night FreeNAS 8.0.1 RC1 sent me two mails from "Cron <root@nas> newsyslog":

Code:
newsyslog: execl(`/usr/bin/bzip2 -f /var/log/maillog.0'): Exec format error
newsyslog: `bzip2 -f /var/log/maillog.0' terminated with a non-zero status (1)

Could you please explain what does it mean?

Also bzip2 give me the folllowing error:
Code:
[root@nas] ~# /usr/bin/bzip2

Lucas,

It looks like a bug. There's a syntax error with this part, the quotation marks don't match.
`/usr/bin/bzip2 -f /var/log/maillog.0'

and also with this, the quotation marks don't match:

`bzip2 -f /var/log/maillog.0'

So bzip is trying to use an invalid file.

Well, thanks for reply protosd,
btw, since I believe it's not a critical error so I can ignore it.

And regarding bzip2 execution error?

No, I don't think it's critical, just a problem in generating the email report. The bzip2 execution error is also a result of the syntax error with the quotation marks.
