Every night I get an e-mail saying their is a new update (see below for msg text). I have already updated to that version, why do I keep getting these messages? I setup a rule to delete this email automatically so I am not bothered by it anymore.. but still odd that this is happening.

A new update is available for the FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE train.

You'll get that message until you upgrade. Then you'll be free until a new update is available and it'll start again.

It's been requested before to not send repeated messages, but nothing came of it.
Actually, it looks like maybe it's just being pushed off for v10.

JKH comments that there's an overhaul coming, hopefully that allows getting just the first alert.

Rather than setting a rule to delete the emails, which you'd have to change later, you could just turn off updates in the FN GUI - then you won't get the email notices.

Thing is, it's nice to get the first alert. And it's my first world problem that it's a pain to have to disable the alert until after I update. I will struggle on with my burden.

I'm confused, I did do this update already.. shouldn't the email notices stop until a new update is available that I HAVE NOT installed yet? I don't know why people should get emails for updates they already installed... That's what makes me think its a bug.

The rule I created to block these e-mails though is filtering on the version of this release only.. so the next update I should receive a notice for still.

Ah, I missed that you had already upgraded. Yeah, if you have indeed upgraded to that version already, it's a bug.

Double check your installed and booted version and submit a bug.

So in the FreeNAS gui, under the Boot tab, it shows under the Name column: 9.10-STABLE-201606270534, it shows under the Active Column: On Reboot, Now. So I assume its the current running version. Is there any other way to tell if its not the version running? If this is the proper way, then ill submit a bug.

I am getting:

"A new update is available for the FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE train.

Version: FreeNAS-9.10-STABLE-201606270534
Changelog:"

IOW, the Changelog is blank.

In the GUI I get:

"Pending Updates:
Name
freenas-pkg-tools-9.10-STABLE-201606270534-8bc815b059fa92f1c8ba7c7685deacbb ->
freenas-pkg-tools-9.10-STABLE-201606072003-56206375162121f339ddd0deef235daa"

IOW, it seems to suggesting a backdate/downgrade of freenas-pkg-tools.

I am getting the exact same thing on a fresh install. It's either the 6/27 build is broken and they're saying to go back to the 6/7 build (I hope not, since it's a stable build), or the update system is broken and hasn't been updated to point to the latest build (most likely). I'm going to sit tight.

At least I'm not alone - I've applied this update several times, but after each reboot it says the same update is available... Is something broken in the update and it's failing back to the previous version?

Its was a glitch in the upgrade server it seems since people who where already on that version where getting it hence the failed upgrade anytime you tried to update.

Seems to be all fixed now.

I still got that email message this morning, and I still see that (non-)update offered when I check using the GUI.
