Jail iocage confused

Hi all I am a little confused have been using freenas for a year now have had little problems with 11.1 with jails.
I am about to set up a new system and have seen a lot about 11.2 and iocage are they a replacement for jails. I mostly use the GUI to set up the everything in freenas. I have had a bit of a look on the forums for an understanding but have got nowhere.
Any information greatly appreciated

Both are jails. The old system used warden to manage jails; the new system uses iocage. Starting with 11.2 (if all goes as I understand it to currently be planned), iocage will be the default and GUI support for warden will be dropped. See http://doc.freenas.org/11/jails.html#using-iocage.
