I have found instances where FreeNAS spits out so many error messages (e.g., most recently, UPS "data stale") that it is no longer possible to control the machine via the GUI: the flood of messages "clogs up" the system? It is therefore impossible to issue a reboot or shutdown command either -- not even from the IPMI remote console: the machine simply does not respond.
