Is there an AHCI issue with 740G chipsets?

This is my motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2813#sp

North Bridge: AMD 740G
South Bridge: AMD SB700

The release version of FreeNAS 8 will not detect my disks plugged into ports 0 through 3. I've tried running in AHCI mode and Native IDE. The single disk plugged into port 5 (you can configure 4 and 5 seperately, so if the others are AHCI you can set them to IDE) gets detected both in setup and via the web GUI. An Identical disk is plugged into one of the other ports, and I know they all work.

The CD's boot loader can see all storage devices plugged in.

If I try and boot from CD with AHCI disabled, it stops at the following line:
md0: preloaded image </boot/memroot.ufs>

Any ideas? I want to ditch the current Windows setup and move to ZFS, but I don't have a lot of time before it has to be up and running again.

Thanks in advance.

yea I had the same issue with FreeNAS 8, version 7 would work but not 8, untill I tried upgrading the BIOS of my motherboard and then issues were solved. Give it a try.

Stupid question, but being 7S available which is superior (ZFS 28, FreeBSD 9, etc) and much more stable, why would you even consider FN8?
