Hi everyone!
I want to try FreeNAS since it seems the best and most reable NAS OS.
This is my build:
- Intel G4400
- Asrock H170M Pro4s
- 8GB of ram
- 2x4TB Hard Drive in RAID1
- 2x6TB Hard drive in RAID1

What I need to do is:
  • Run a Plex server that will stream mostly to 1 device at tim
  • Run a torrent client, possibly deluge
  • Run Sonarr
  • Share the two RAID1 as a unique folder, I don't need in which raid1 the files are
  • Backup a given folder when I connect a USB3 external driver in it
Is it possible to do it with my hardware? I read that FreeNAS need a very powerful hardware so I'm not sure.

It would run but you will be wasting some power because the board you are looking at is made for a desktop. Would be better to find a board without audio and overclocking features are superfluous for a server where stability is more desired.

Also remember it's not Raid 1 in FreeNAS it's mirrors when two drives are put in a Raid 1 type setup. Getting things straight now will help you later on. Also don't use the hardware to create a Raid 1 and pass it on to FreeNAS, this is VERY VERY VERY bad.

As far as plex the cpu will be fine up till around one stream being transcoded with the other stuff running. Just remember that you should attempt to find a format that your devices will be happy with to transcode as little as possible and you should have very few issues.
