Hi,

We are trying to set up FreeNas on a test box in our network and have fallen flat on our faces as the first hurdle.

The device is and old IBM x220 server with a ServeRaid 4Lx RAID controller and three hard drives. So far I have tried blowing away the RAID configuration and installing but it failed I then tried creating a Logical drive of one disk and again it failed and finally set up two logical drives one with one drive and one with two but it always fails with the same error.

Attempt to query device size failed - medium not present.

followed by lots of:

Error 6
cddonr got error 0x6 back
illegal request asc:64,0 illegal mode for this tack.

These error are displayed quite a way into the cd boot process and watching the script go by it does identify the RAID controller as part of this process.

I imagine that we need some sort of RAID driver but I do not know this for sure and even if I could find one how do I get FreeNas to use it.

Any help gratefull recieved,

Thanks

This is working now. Despite creating the drives in the software I managed not to initialise them, I have done this and so far we are installing. :)
