Hi

After moving my server last night, the USB stick I used to run FreeNAS from decided to stop working.
So I had to reinstall, after reinstall I have tried to import my old volume. But it will not show up in the GUI.

I have access to all my files using FTP.
And if I SSH into the box I can list all the directories.

But I am not able to setup cifs shares or rebuild my jails as it just will no show up in the gui.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reimport your configuration file that you backed up and all your shares will be setup. If you don't have that then you need to tee setup everything.

Unfortunately I don't have a recent backup file for this build. So i will have to set up all of that again yes. But the problem is the volumes not showing up. So i have nowhere to create shares.

So go to the manual and check out the section on importing existing pools. ;)

I have gone through the Manual. And followed it to try and find the problem.
I know it was stupid not to have a backup.

everything seems like i should be working as well which is puzzling.

Except for the scrub and a few bit errors on one drive. It seems to be mounted.

[root@freenas] ~# zpool import Storage
cannot import 'Storage': a pool with that name is already created/imported,
and no additional pools with that name were found

If you get an output on "zpool status" (which you do) then your pool is already mounted. No need to mount it again with the zpool import command. Not to mention the zpool import shouldn't ever be used from the CLI or you'll fubar your FreeNAS config.

Thanks for the info about not using zpool import from the CLI I was not aware of the problems that might bring.

Well since it is mounted how can I get the gui to recognize it. ?
It shows nothing, and I am not able to import from it. The volume just does not show up.

You don't. You reboot the machine and then do an import per the manual.

Here's a hint.. 99% of stuff you might want to do from the CLI you shouldn't do. ;)

Well after a clean install and letting it sit for a while before trying to import the volume. It suddenly imported the volume again.
And thanks for the head up i`ll try and stay away from the cli.
