Import Disk: Resulting Ownership/Permissions?

I'm about to import a giant pile of bits from an NTFS-formatted USB drive. I can find no discussion on how the files imported from a disk are assigned ownership and permissions. The "Import Disk" dialog lets me set a destination directory, but that's it.

VFAT volumes have no concept of ownership. NTFS volumes have ownership info, but it doesn't necessarily map to any accounts/users on the NAS.

When the files finally land in the destination directory, who owns them and what permissions do they have?

I believe it will be owned by root:wheel on import. You will need to change permissions it once your disk has been imported.
